If they set Yannit on Brakka’s scent, they could get revenge for the attack, but they wouldn’t be able to question him afterwards. Plus, it wouldn’t be very subtle. No, it looks like Ran will need to find a way to get Yannit to calm down and see that Elim will survive.
That and Yannit was barely in control of themself. From what has been previously stated, it’d be likely that innocent deaths would be involved as well.
Would Yannit be able to sort out the heads after plucking them from the Twins’ shoulders like ripe strawberries? Which head should go back on which twitching decapitated corpse?
That’s what we call “Morphic Resonance” kids, and it means that the magic that makes up who you are takes on a shape that is you independently of silly physical circumstances.
what most people fail to understand is that Ran’s hat is a universal constant regardless of whether it’s currently being worn by him or any of the potential dozens of him that exist in alternate timelines, parralel dimensions, alternate universes and last tuesday

I think the idea is she’s VERY agitated because one of her friends got attacked and almost died and is in a state of mind Indrels need to defend their people from predators, but since she doesn’t actually KNOW the details of the attack or who is respnsible and can’t even leave to find the perpetrator anyway, she’s basically stuck in ‘protective murder mode’ until Ran calmed her down.
I get the feeling aromatherapy would have a _MUCH_ more pronounced effect on Indrels than other species…they just need to figure out _what_ scents do what for Yannit. I doubt they have the tech to actually _mimic_ Indrel pheromones, but…given this is the first time I’ve ever seen Ran doing something other than comic relief, I could be surprised.
The Indrel appear to be based primarily on ants. Ants CAN smell, in that they can sense airborne microparticulates with their antennae. How they interpret this sense and how it compares to what we consider “smell”, we have no way to determine- but the functionality of what we call “smell” is there, and ants tend to rely quite heavily on it.

BUT WHAT IF HE DOESN’T
WOULDN’T YOU KNOW IF HE SURVIVES?!?! D=
A TRUE AUTHOR NEVER TRULY KNOWS WHAT THEIR CHARACTER DOES

1. How have they not been crushed like watermelons?
2. What has she been doing all night while left in attack mode?

By being very calm watermelons who make no sudden moves!
Yeah but is she just gripping on them to protect them or what? I dont understand why she is holding onto them.
She’s not in attack mode. She’s in DEFEND mode. So presumably what she’s been doing is keeping her adopted hive safe. Whether they want it or not :P.
But this seems like an odd way to defend them. She is holding them back with her two strongest appendages. Surely she would want this free to use.
awww poor yannit baby is scared for her friend! yay for Ran’s safe space.
Scared for/about a lotta things at the moment
What amazes me is Yannit ‘sees’ Ran’s hat. Even though it’s still on the table
iss thiss part of your heeeaad?
Perhaps she is sensing its absence? 🙂
It is part of Ran’s spirit

Ya know, Yannit is terrifying. I hope they find a way so she doesn’t go murder-crazy.
All she really needs is a colorful ball-pit
Those were outlawed after a child got stuck with a needle full of… what’s the equivalent of heroin in that world?
I heard they were banned after a group squandered nearly 17,000 gold pieces on one.
now hear me out: wig party
Having to send some nonsense comment first to make the captcha appear is seriously annoying…
But may I say that sleepy Ran is a surprisingly cute?

Er…
First, Previous, Comments (22), Next, Last.
Part of that got cut off.
Oh! Thank you!
Someone’s about to get whacked in the face with an ovipositor.
BUT ITS NOT MATING SEASON!
Just noticed there are character tags! But not many entries. Very new system, yes?
Basically Yannit is having a panic attack. I can relate.
Perhaps. Perhaps she IS sensing some imminent danger that mere humans cannot sense.
Dare I say foreshadowing?

A lava lamp might be more soothing to Yannit — there’s no evidence that Indrels can actually “smell”.
