I is sorry ya have to live with de memory, and of late, what good ya had going to put de memories in perspective have gone to de absolute shit rock bottom, and all ya have is the demons whispering in de ears like one of us yinglets when we are scared. My Humani avatar has as zheir backstory dat zheir family died in what in Earzh lore was called “De Great Patriotic War” by some, and “World War: De Sequel!” by ozhers. Dat we are but brozhers and sisters seperated by culture, language and politics is zhometimes forgotten. My Avatar trained wizh Russian Troops in 1996, who were as humani as my avatar was. Zhey played terrible Soccer (Football to de rest of de world) as did we, and dis zhing was de icebreaker, dat zhere was anozher country dat was as bad as soccer as we were! Dis was somezhing we all laughed about, as everyone worldwide loves soccer (but not us!) and we had to play it as the opposing team for so, so many countries who zhen were very smug after. But de Russians dat day were our brozhers, and we united in being very bad at a sport dat was not de national one.

De avatar’s great uncle died in a place called Normandy, and zhomehow dey took his poor self all de way to San Francisco on de US West Coast to be buried under a famous bridge dere. Its very pretty. And yeah, about de skill level zhing, it was funny at de time. Bozh sides dreaded being zhere, as Soccer is very tiring to play, and you can go de entire game and never score a point and it be considered a good game. Dat I was a soldier, I got to meet people from many places, of who some were very nice (say the Greeks) and ozhers, well, dey did not to be zhere, playnig soccer in the US South in summertime. So finding anozher dat was as happy to call a truce and use de air conditioned weight room as de afternoon alternate joint Physical Training activity delighted myself to no end.
Dis above, does not mean we will always agree, but one can disagree wizh ozhers, and still have respect for zhem. It is only when we stop talking, dat hope is lost. So feel free to disagree, as it shows dat you have a passion for what I love as well. And dat, is a hopeful zhing, I zhink.

It’s a Russian-language edition, not pro-Russia – I suspect plenty of Ukrainians would find the Russian-language version easier to read, too, just as they might, say, the Russian version of WikiFur. In fact, it turns out the lead administrator of that comic platform works for a US cloud company, ClearScale, in San Francisco, and has been there since 2020, presumably finding Yandex an unpalatable place to work by then. Russian furs on FA are likewise supportive of Ukraine. So yeah… I don’t see the irony, especially as furries are one of the groups targeted for persecution in Russia. Few of them appear supportive of the current war.

I’d say punishing all Russian-speaking fans for the actions of the Russian government is a much bigger hipster hypocrisy. First of all, I doubt the Russian government reads this comic to begin with. All the Russian fans are commoners with zero influence on the government, and we hate this war more than most, but there’s literally nothing we can do. Believe me, if Russian commoners could do a thing to influence Russia’s actions, we’d have ended this war already a long time ago. Or better yet, wouldn’t have let our government start it to begin with. Russian people have been protesting the whole time, y’know.
Also, technically speaking, I just broke our laws since calling it a war or badmouthing it is outlawed. Happy?

Even if it wasn’t for the fact that all Russians can’t be blamed for the actions of their deranged dictator, Russian is also an important language throughout the region, even outside of Russia. Fun fact: although only 17% of all Ukrainians are ethnic Russians, about 40% of them use Russian as the primary language in day to day situations. You know, just as a (rather relevant) example.

To be fair… Val Salia writes and draws za comic and volunteer translators (who are just rilly excited fans like you and I) translate it into Russian (up to date), as well as French and German (in progress)… If you are fluent in Ukrainian or any ozzer language, I can direct you to za resources to assist you providing your translated version. After some consideration I’ve decided I’m dropping this stupid comic. It goes nowhere, tells nothing and is just plain boring. Even the yinglets have become dull and uninteresting. But hey, at least you’re probably not a bot, just someone who missed the very anti-war message on the very first page of this comic, as well as other progressive themes, and assumes that having an official Russian translation of the comic (for Russian-speaking fans) but also being against the senseless assault on a sovereign nation (by the oligarchy in Moscow) is somehow a great incongruence. Obviously only after over 5 months of this and similar messages being posted below the new pages.
At least they gave it a solid 4 minute consideration before dropping it. I mean, the comment implies they’ve been reading it for a while, but seeing as they only just noticed the bit about Ukraine, well…

I hope you come back in maybe a year and catch up. Yesyes, za comics pacing does require patience, but few comics are written nearly as interesting as zis one. So to my mind, zis is one of za few worzh za time to read. But you are right, if you have more time to read web comics zat you have to zink, zen zis might not be za best comic for you
I gotta admit, I love his skill with his weapon. Not an easy one to mess with, and it’s good he was able to figure out what to do, rather than waiting on Elim to come handle it, since… Well, we clearly see where THAT was goin’.
All the same, I love the difference in the way the two are handling it. One’s thinking too MUCH about it, the other looks like he’s trying NOT to think too much about it… And being honest? It’s good that Elim has someone being more casual about it because while it’s good that he’s questioning it and still keeping the weight of what this is with him… That don’t change the fact they aren’t out of the woods yet.
But I’m glad to see more on their past as war buddies, as it really does help remind you WHY the two care so much for eachother and have eachother’s backs.

And as having been in de military for my Avatar, I know hell has no fury like a Sargent whose soldier(s) who has misworn/lost parts of zheir uniform. It is a different zhing between having 2 uniforms, and wearing zhem like dey earned it even if zhey do fit.

I want to nominate Valsalia as the host city for their world’s first Olympic Games. But they should probably name the event after something that exists in their world.
Good idea, but what sports would you have for a not only multicultural but interspecies event? Because if de Yinglet Toss is part os zhe events, I may skip zhat one even if Elim is zhe current world record holder!
Lots of sports have weight classes. Most human sports have competition segregated by sex, and sometimes the events aren’t even the same within a sport. For example, in gymnastics, only women do the balance beam, and only men do the rings. Maybe there could be gymnastics events for particular species as well? There are also sports with “mixed doubles” events, so what if the mixing is by species instead of sex? Or how about a relay race where four different species each runs a leg of the race?
Of course, men can do the beam, too (and be quite good at it). But there are a few reasons why they didn’t in competition, and still don’t – though possibly if there are equivalents here, the could be challenged within the comic.

I means, Kass did volunteer to be tossed, so maybe not so, so bad as long as dere is a soft landings, or someone to catch? Kind of like a Yinglet frisbee or zomezhing as de team sports, or a competition to see who has de most resistance to be tickled, as all of de species in Valsalia have issues wizh dis (hearing protection recommended for Baxxid tickling). Or interpretive dance as any of de species can do zhat wizh dere natural talents. Or perhaps a triazhalon event zhat has to have members of every species, like a distance running for de humans, a obstacle course for de Yinglets, and a Mazh number puzzle for de Baxxid, so no species competes directly wizh a ozher species. Dere are zhings dat bring people togezher, regardless of de shape of zheir bodies or hearts.

More seriously, I assume the KLANG in panel two is either his opponent managing to parry the strike, or it deflecting off his armor. My headcanon is that the first attack struck the helmet and deflected off, possibly moving the helmet out of the way in the process (no chin straps), and the second either struck the newly-exposed skull, caving it in, or the jaw, shattering it.
