So this really makes me wonder what the societal norms are surrounding interspecies relationships in this city. Like, obviously, the Baxxid don’t find the idea of one of them becoming romantically attracted to a human to be distasteful enough that Kuldra isn’t comfortable gushing about how attractive she finds the trade master in a semi-public place, but (assuming this isn’t simple jealousy) perhaps Kuldra has an issue with the idea of Kalgkur becoming romantically involved with a human? Perhaps she finds this to be a transgression?
It occurs to me that the elders would certainly not discourage them from becoming romantically involved with humans, simply because that is effectively the opposite of becoming antisocial towards them. If you have members of your species who are openly dating members of the other, and the leadership openly approves of that, it’s going to be very hard to talk negatively about that group…
…which raises the question, what does Zhretta think about the pact they have with humans? Does this go deeper than simple concern for Kalgkur?
Also unstated, what about Nell’s end of things? Would it be considered taboo among humans for her to date one of these giant bone snake creatures? Or is that just normal, because we know that is a thing humans would normally do when encountering another intelligent race. (See Neanderthal)
This is all of course assuming that romantic attraction is what is happening here, and not simply us reading too much into either an implied friendship or perhaps a red herring that’s being thrown in.
It should also be noted that the last time we saw these two characters interact, Zhretta clearly had an issue with Kuldra, and the only interesting character trait I think we have about Kuldra is that she has a thing for humans… https://www.valsalia.com/comic/out-of-placers/oops-130/
Also thinking that he says there will be no punishment, but I feel like that is a mischaracterization. He knows that the elders are not going to treat him as a serious threat, he doesn’t know what sort of example might still be made of him. I keep thinking his punishment is going to be reassignment to the new Yinglet officer.
Is that baxxid puppy eyes in the 4th panel? Say what you want about their “expressionless faces,” but they’ve got the most expressive body language in the comic. 😀
I binged the comic over a few days, and I gotta say, you do absolutely amazing work. Big “Questionable Content” vibe (it’s another comic, I’m not calling Out of Placers questionable haha)

Smacking each other like that must make an interesting sound. Big pieces of dense bone.
something a little like this?

Surely the author knows by now that all the readers want this. Will he give us what we want or just keep stringing us along, for the fun of it?

God, I frekkin love Kuldra, lol. I feel like she’s me if I were a baxxid XD
That… seems like a very intimate / personal way for a person to touch a Baxxid?
Ahh, Kuldra. XD
I wonder how many times she gets that reaction.
Maybe several times a day? If she and Ran ever meet, hide your children and get ready to cry with laughter.

Confusion. Perhaps my earlier evaluation was completely wrong.
