However, this is seen more as a higher degree of responsibility placed upon the elders than it is a sign of superiority. No matter how young or old or rich or poor they are, dunking one’s food-covered face or claws into one’s pool to flow into the supply of the one below is a major social faux pas; and everyone knows who their water-neighbors are.
