Guardsman Arlo had been stationed in this passage for a couple years with a senior guard, who recently reached retirement age. Guardsman Trella here had a trustworthy record, and was given the station in his stead.
She’s only been there for a few weeks, but since most of the time they’re the only other people they see on the job, they’ve had plenty of time to get to know each other.
It’s going pretty well.

Aww! A polite, punctual and fashionable baxxid making good friends among humans. How delightful! ^w^
On the side note, it seems to be quite high up there, and this forgetful maid does seem to recall that one who-knows-what-he-did dwells deep below the ground instead. Does this mean this lovely bug is seeing someone else? Oooh, the intrigue!~
In panel 3, the officer said “The ones inside” meaning there are more than one, perhaps its a Baxxid nursing home? The Trademaster is very motivated in his benevolence towards all his citizens. Baxxid included.
As I understand it, this is the baxxid graveyard or retirement home, at least going of the last page.
Just like whenever I would watch Fraggle Rock as a child, I really want to see what’s around every corner in this place. Hmmm…fraggles and yinglets. That’s going into the Art Ideas note on my phone.
I note they’re both badged, officer rank or at least senior NCOs, and they’re standing guard duty? Must be something really important down the passage to require two high-ranking troops as guards.
Good catch, I didn’t notice that myself.
Baxxids’ speech sure is easier to read when they’re communicating with each other in their own way than when they speak human.
This is something officers get rotated out to do? Guess that means Kass will be here at some point.
