This is the first time in a long time for Vizlet that a yinglet has not been lulled into compliance by her smart-sounding speeches.

This is exactly where I wanted this to go
It was the inevitable conclusion to this series of events~

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere
Great comic as always.
To quote Yogi Bear Kass is smarter then the average Yinglet. And she has gone through just too much in such a short time, with out enough sleep. It’s a miracle her breakdown did not happen sooner. Not to mention her reaction was pretty tame all things considered.
It’s fortunate that tantrums are limited in destructive capacity when one has weak little stilt-arms.
Tantrums may be limited in damage potential, all out fights can get serious though, we have seen this, and blood has flown as a result.
This not only made my day, made my whole week 🙂
Well excellent! I was kinda sick today and reading this comment helped, so this completes the circle of appreciation.
all I can think of is:
Hit!
Damage 0
Hit!
Damage 0
Hit!
Damage 0
Hit!
Damage 0
Hit!
Damage 0
And that would be an entirely accurate representation of the fight occurring here.
That one bounced!
Didn’t penetrate!
We didn’t do any damage!
Armor ate it!
Shot didn’t pierce!
No damage!

Ignore that… Lag and stuff…
Considering that while he may have been a human, he wasn’t exactly one of the one on-top to begin with. In fact as far as humans go, I get the feeling him and his best friend were pretty much near the bottom of the social ladder to begin with. Probably one of many reason him and his friend were one of the few who actually treated Yinglets with compassion and kindness.
Good observation! Kass and Elim are indeed no strangers to struggle, nor following the orders of whoever had control of their fates.
Huh. Just imagine a cheesy organ sting behind each panel, and it’s soap opera gold.
HOW DO YOU PEOPLE THINK THIS STUFF UP
That’s great
I cant edit my previous comment but kass can sprout an extra foot of hair complete with hair band when really annoyed. neat!
was this a human family trait or simply a bit of extra genetic diversity among yinglets?
Hey, you’re right, Kassen’s hair did drastically change between this page and the last.

Whoops! That’s what I get for storyboarding while sleep-deprived. Gonna have to edit that at some point.

Space_Time continuity restored. Existence failure delayed indefinitely.
Have a nice day.

Does this constitute a challenge to the Matriarch? If so, then winning might put Kass in even a MORE difficult position in the Hierarchy.
Ohhhh this is both a challenge and an insult in one!
How do yinglets get timbers to bend like those holding the roof up? It would take a very complicated jig with huge reduction gearing and pulleys for normal people to achieve the force necessary to get a piece of wood that big to bend like that which means yinglets would need even more gear reduction. Not to mention there would need to be a boiler to steam the wood since it is not laminated.
I suspect yinglets are smarter than they actually appear. Possibly with a huge ADHD problem, but that can be cured with many shots of caffeine.
Good question! The Val Salian enclave hasn’t had a Patriarch with architectural skills for a few generations, but the last one did a pretty good job of putting together the current enclave’s central longhouse.
Most of the bent support beams forming the roof were actually grown that way; there’s a type of softwood tree that undergoes a major growth spurt in its second year of life, so he laid down instructions to form a bunch of them in a local grove, then gave them another year to allow then to go through their natural hardening stage before felling them.
They’re still much weaker than most hardwood, but all they have to hold up is a grass roof.
Did you already plan that explanation, or did you just make that up on the spot?
Yes!
Excellent! As a writer, I always appreciate some good well-reasoned worldbuilding, especially if it’s done from the cuff.
so this means those walls that have fallen will probably remain that way for some time to come.
Also what does happen when you feed a yinglet, or maybe a room filled with them, several shots of caffeine?
an implosion
Fun fact: what constitutes a tree as a hardwood or softwood has nothing to do with the properties of the wood, but the fruits/seeds it makes. For more info, click here.
Considering an earlier page about distress calls and such, does this mean that Kass may inadvertently be taking command of the enclave?
Well he’s doing SOMETHING pretty serious, that’s for sure!
Is it me or does kass’ s shell tooth look smaller than it use too? In the flashbacks its much larger, and I remember it was stated that females do file down their large tooths for the sake of appearance.
Did kass get her tooth filed down during her enclave makeover?
Probably just perspective, I remember the matriarch being sad about not having enough time to file down the tooth.
I growing artist like Valsalia is sure to evolve the design of their characters over time as they improve their skills, refine their art style, and change their personal tastes.
Thaaat’s pretty much it right there! Half the reason I started drawing this comic was to give myself an ongoing project to work on, so that I could keep myself drawing frequently enough to improve.
For that reason, I haven’t drawn the character references yet, as it seems like every couple of weeks I’ve found parts to improve, or things I want to try. So! I’m going to keep letting things develop organically, art-wise, for now.
One of those things lately has been yinglet shell-teeth; I realized that both artistically and in terms of their biological function, those things were a little too long before.
So yeah, thanks for understanding that my artstyle is growing along with this comic!
Yeah, I’d like to start a webcomic to sharpen my own skills but I fall short on the writing part.
…I also fall short on discipline and focus.
I have kinda the opposite problem. I’m an okay writer, but I just do work well with doing visual art.
I’d be curious to know if you’re on the lookout for anyone to work with!
I know this is completely out of left field for you, but I’ve always been curious about getting into webcomics.
I had one that I’d been working on off and on for years but it never got past the early writing stages.
Sorry, do *not work well with visual art. Heh.
Completely understandable. And im thankful you are making this comic for our entertainment and to hone your skills. Plus I was double checking incase I had missed something.
Naw, it’s the naturally high levels of sodium hydroxide in the enclave that’s causing Kass’ tooth mass to dissolve!
(Kidding, check out my reply to Van below)
Smek
aheh… that’s kinda cute xD
So is the smek the sound of their soft pads smeking against skin?
On the last episode of Dallas…
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh my god. This is too good.
I’m just loving this series, start to finish.
Does this have a planned ending, or is this an ongoing story?
Just marathoned this whole original gem of a series and I have to say, this is far and away my favorite page.
Yes.
That’s the most adorable slap fight <3
This page of the comic immediately settled down that this series was going to be a mainstay one for me to track from here on out.
