Someday, far, far in the future when their civilization has matured, there will be a yinglet Olympics and snout drag will be a legitimate topic when it comes to shaving hundredths of seconds off times and other matters of performance.
He’s clearly quite well educated to articulate these thoughts so well, and the diagrams are very detailed.
Lopin: mind = blown
He’s either about to say something amazingly insightful, something completely ridiculous, or nothing at all while transfixed by the sudden onset of “total tongue awareness.” 😀
To be honest I suspect the artist just wanted an excuse to update the 🙀 sticker for the Yinglet Telegram pack. 😸
What’s that?
Stickers are large-ish images used to show emotions on modern social media patforms in a more detailed and personal way than a generic emoji. On Telegram they are collected into themed packs; there is one for yinglets and more generally this comic.
Here I am, so old-fashioned that I thought “telegram pack” meant physical stamps for a physical paper card you might send by physical mail. 😀
Going old-school! They should do those with the APAs and zines that still go out.
something I’ve noticed… you can tell the intelligence level of a yinglet from how often they keep their eyes wide open, rather than in a rested position with their eye lids.
then Lopin must be the most intelligent yinglet of all times…
Nah, he’s not even the smartest yinglet in the room. Considering the enclave, I don’t think he’s as smart as Vizlet, Beizel, or Lippie, either, and probably not as smart as Pekkit or Figgins, though it’s hard to say exactly, since we don’t know how old Lopin is. He might be too young to compare him to the other patriarchs and elder ladies like Feeeena.
From being a street vendor, he might know enough arithmetic to handle money. I wonder, if he asked, would Kass be willing to teach him to read?
I didn’t zhink Corvus was being serious about Lopin being a Yinglet geinous. Yinglets are sensitive to sarcasm, and I zhink dis is de case zhere.
For how smarty pants Lopin actually is, or how old he is, it is speculation. I zhink zhat he was likely younger zhan any of zhe Patriarchs, who would have known Lopin much better if he was zheir age. I’m guessing 4-5 years of age. Enough dat Lopin has gotten over his youzhfulness, and get fancy clozhes, but not old enouzh to be of the generation of de Patriarchs. Anozher clue to dis is Lopin didn’t immediately turn to de Enclave once zhreatened by dat asshat Brakka back at de beginning of de story.
For intelligence, I zhink Lopin is above average. If he remained in de enclave, I am fairly sure he would have replaced Patriarch Figgins when he stepped down. Dey are similar enouzh in skills and intellegence, and Lopin is resourceful enough for de job.
lol
LOPIN IS SCARED AND HE FEEL BAD!

Ya know what? I had not zhought so much of dis. De Humani have very, very hard heads, full of thick, thick bones compared to us lighter built Yinglets, so yes, dere is some centrifugal force when we turn our heads, but dat is somewhat lesser because we just don’t have heavy bones.
But I zhink what Kass is not telling you is dat we don’t have to be swiveling our heads around all de time like a half-blind Humani. Our eyes and ears do zhat for us so all we have to do is point our senses in dat direction, turning our heads is only necessary when we need dat bit of Binocular vision dat we Yinglets have, when fighting, or plan to eat what it is we are looking at.
meanwhile most folks i know would kill for a tongue that long for various reasons
You zhink? But get excited, or lose concentration and de barbs come out. If zhis happens in a damp, soft place expect a lot of pain as a result. What is REALLY good zhough? It is almost impossible for us to bite our tongues or cheeks in a meaningful way. I have seen a Humani do zhis to zhemselfs, and it looked very painful, zhough it is a good oppurtunity to learn humani swear words.
