Oh damn, right, it WOULD require a whole new mindset to go from “just being lads trying to survive” to “Very important high profile subjects” wouldn’t it? That’s definitely something they’ll have to keep in mind in the future.
I’m sorry, WHAT!? What is this link? why are there so many profile pics in this archive, including mine? There’s like, several other things in here too, but I have no clue how any of it has to do with what you just said.
it appears to be all the images on the site. the way i found the true numbers of the pages is from the guid in the rss feed at the bottom of the page. you can find it by downloading the rss feed, opening it in a text editor, and looking for “guid”.
there seems to be images that can’t be found on the website, but are on their deviantart or furaffinity, for example: https://www.valsalia.com/oeab08-07/
Elim didn’t fail at all. He thinks he failed because he *almost* failed, and probably would have failed if he weren’t the “luckiest unlucky bastard alive” (oops-104). I hate that he’s being so hard on himself, but I guess it’s easy to get depressed when all you can do is sit around in the infirmary for weeks upon weeks. If only he knew how grateful the Trademaster is (oops-106). I don’t know if the city gives medals or honors to people in Elim’s social rank, but if they do, I’d like to see Elim get something and be *ordered* to wear it on his uniform.
“I survived a shiv to the gut and all I got was this stupid medal.”
More seriously, that was indeed a failure, but he performed quite admirably – going above and beyond the call of duty – in fixing it. As a general rule, when guarding a VIP, someone reaching the VIP without permission is a security failure. Them managing to abduct the VIP is a worse one – although Elim was able to remedy that before it could fully escalate into something more serious, and did so with extreme prejudice. Also, a member of the security detail (in this case, the entirety of the security detail) being seriously injured due to laxness of said security detail also counts as a type of failure.
However, the failure here was not Elim’s alone – and I would argue he is not the one who holds the bulk of the blame for it. Note that both Ran and the Trademaster were shocked about the attack. The fact of the matter is, nobody anticipated this happening, and at an organizational level they did not properly account and prepare for it. Elim’s “guarding” was really just meant to be a case of both preventing Kass from being bothered (and endangered – punting a yinglet isn’t exactly a safe activity for the yinglet) by humans (simply by being present – nobody’s going to be crazy enough to attack a yinglet who is both wearing the Ivenmoth Red and is accompanied by a guard escort), and really was primarily just to be there as emotional support. It’s a failure of the whole security apparatus, not just one guard (or even just one guard and his immediate superior).

I feel like that chair is radically over-engineered. It’s just huge plants of wood nailed together, it doesn’t have legs, it has WALLS.
this isn’t appearing in akregator?
well, akregator crashed (typical of kde software), and now it shows up.
fun fact: this is number 2001! number 2000 is, of course, https://www.valsalia.com/190-2/

oh good, my comment is awaiting moderation. i’ll just avoid The Page That Shall Not Be Linked. it’s arcane wordpress stuff.

Well, now that he mentions it… I didn’t even think about that. About Elim being assigned to guard Kass and having failed at it.
Though, to be fair, he didn’t entirely fail. He still killed the attackers and all that.
