“A normal existence is no longer possible” means Kalgkur is officially Out-Of-Place. I hate how it had to happen for him, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing him added to the main crew. He’s a perfect fit for the “straight man” in a comedy troupe!
With Kass, Isher, Yannit, Ran, and Lopin, there kind of already is one. One might also say Elim is “Out Of Place” too, considering he was already a refugee before being dragged into this.
I wonder what role he’s going to fill for this expedition. If he’s going to act as a bodyguard, I cannot think of a worse choice, as his trauma could lead him to hesitating at a crucial moment. Unless they’re hoping to bank on his newfound reputation as a ruthless killer, though I don’t see that working on Yinglets who are both unlikely to know baxxid reputations or recognize specific baxxids even if they did.
Yeah, if Kass is riding on his head, I think anyone with any knowledge of how fast such a huge, sharp-edged creature can make a killing blow is going to be absolutely sure not to harm the tiny yinglet it’s protecting. I bet even if he hesitated, a group of would-be assassins wouldn’t stand a chance against him, especially not Yinglets: that circling thing doesn’t work on Baxxid.
Exploded… that’s quite the description, Trademaster… an accurate one, but still.
Welp, looks like we finally have full confirmation of what actually happened to the guy.

I bet by the end of this series, there’s going to be a full party of Out-Of-Placers.

Isher and him can be “oh god help my tail is too big for this room” buddies.
And to think this all started with Kalgkur being afraid of a bug.
