Despite Kass’s Decorum, they’re still constantly thinking about how big and skary Kal is, lol. I do not envy the Yinglet mindset.
Just wait until Kass sees Kal in full rage-display. (:
Notably, Kass doesn’t seem to have this problem with Yannit. Hopefully he’ll become habituated quickly!

Kass still seems to be adjusting to Yannit, so I guess it will take a while.
Kass knew Yannit (however briefly) before the transformation. That could be a significant factor.
I love every single one of these strips with those two. It’s pure gold how they interact with each other. And it’s even better, given that these are two of my favorite characters in the comic.
I like the mandible gesticulation.
Oh, thank the ancestors, he’s explaining the story!
One of these days Kass is gonna find some kind of personal benefit for being a yinglet that makes it “not so bad.” But until then, though…
I mean, it did result in an immediate, almost no questions asked, promotion to Officer, with a staggering amount of compensation that Kass allocated to his old Bunkhouse, all for the low price of his dignity, writing down information on what it’s like being a Yinglet, and acting as a Ivenmoth-Yinglet emmisary.
Is Kalgkur going to believe such an impossible story so easily? Is Kass starting to enter the “acceptance” stage of grief? Do Viracroix and Varakses understand what a perfect pair they’ve put together here, or did they just get really, *really* lucky?
Kass already reached “acceptance” a while back, when he explained to Isher how being angry all the time was exhausting, and that there’s no point being caught up on something he can’t do anything about, yet.
He hasn’t accepted being a Yinglet, but accepted that his traumatic event happened.
