EVERY SINGLE DAY
Sorry about the wait! A BadArmThing happened and I’ve been rehabbing it so it wouldn’t turn into a serious and lifelong BadArmThing. Details here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/so-iv…..-slow-18196671
Also, my good buddy Raptie did the colors and shading on this page to help me out! Check her stuff out at https://outissa.com/ and/or http://www.furaffinity.net/user/caedere/
Nancyboys face says murder xD
Actually his face says “Property of House Ivenmoth,” it’s just tattooed in a really really small font size
That there is the face that will stick the knife in your back when your sleeping, then move on to the next target.
I should mention, just cause someone looks and sounds and acts harmless, does not mean that thay are. He might be running a game face to keep people from realizing just how dangerious he might be.
Isher needs a little seasoning, shes not realized that being able to look intimidating can help her to lead a much more peacefull life. Intimidating the bad guys to back down is a lot mess painfull than having to kill them. But then shes emotionaly pretty young, lest she acts it. Shes not in a place that she can really hold onto that innocence, and beleave that everyone can be nice to each other. Kinda sad in a way, but, its eather learn to deal, or, shes likely to end up dead.
Does anyone else get the feel that a war is on the way? I mean really, all the forshadowing is practicly screaming that bad things are coming. Humm, kinda adds some extra light on the interest to get the yinglets more involved. Posably a thought of getting them involved cause at best, if war does come, the yinglets will get slaughtered in droves anyways, so might as well get them to fight with the ivenmoth folks, that way at lest the deaths will help.
Isher does need a little seasoning; she’s naturally kinda peppery, so she might benefit from a light dash of garlic
All the more reason to pair her with Kass, since the newly-minted yinglady is just so full of salt.
Isher does know what’s up. She figured out how to protect her home. She just really hates it and would prefer to live in her delusions.
Yes, I hear the blisstopian springs of ignorance are nice this time of year.
I know that face. Ive had it.
I think pretty much anyone who’s ever worked retail has had it.
Burnyface even gets a proper evil chuckle in. That’s some top-level guarding, that is.
The only difference between actors and doorguards is that actors bow when their performance is finished
Nancyboy is every customer service representative ever. We feel your pain, friend.
Ha ha that’s silly, he’s in customer service, they don’t -feel- things like -real- people!
As Drone #567346 of Malwart: Can confirm.
K-Mart Drone #407 also agrees. (And yes, that was my associate number some twenty years ago.)
I have been a front desk clerk at a hotel for a decade. We are all real-life members of the Clerks universe when the customers’ backs are turned.
Have done Costumer Service work for so many years now, can confirm….when we smile at you…that’s when we’re plotting your burial ground.
And this is why it never hurts to be polite to Costumer Service worker. A genuine smile, some empathy and general politeness and willingness to wait and listen could save your life when the poor drone finally snaps and goes on a killing spree.
Isher is so precious.
She’s actually only appraised as a semi-precious material, with a pretty low average monentary value unless there’s a dip in the global Isher economy
Still worth more money than I am!
We should probably all invest though. My sources are telling me the Isher may appreciate in value in the near future.
That is the face of a man so close to the edge, he’s already falling. He just has not yet hit the bottom…
He’s in Customer Service, an anomaly in the laws of physics where there is no discernible bottom
That must make sitting down uncomfortable.
What makes you think he is allowed to sit?
No; the bottom is only to be hit at the end of times, the great and terrible day of an equaling of accounts. We all fear that day.
Isher: horrified by the idea of being thought a monster wants to murder those who act like monsters.
Yup definitely the sort of person you want as a guard. Plus the natural size and armaments help.
You can tell that Black Braid was terrified because he was looking at Isher’s face.
Oooh “Mean Isher” can glower at me any ole time. Her right ear has no jagged notch in that panel, though. My apologies for being the nitpicky person. Beware the nancy-boy! So many people have said of serial killers “He looked so innocent, I can’t believe he was a monster.”
I see this now, too! Come on, Val! When you get a chance get this fixed! The notched ear would TOTALLY add to the fear factor!
But not before you get your arm looked at! If you don’t get it healed right, we’ll all have to collectively take drastic measures!
1) Splash you with Zat Zing
2) Wait….
3) Use Soap (Yes, capitalized! You know what I mean!)
4) Re-discover how to produce Healthy Healthy Juice, and shove it down your throat until you are healthy again!
5) Uhh…..crap, how do we turn Val back into a human? Guys…..Hey, guys? Heh heh…..W…What are you doing with Zat Zing? No, come on now!
I’m down for this Yingletization process.
I just gotta say, Isher’s breasts look really huge in that one panel. Like, out-of-place kind of huge. Not that I’m complaining…
She’s got her arms folded under them, pushing them up and out. Which may not be her intention. And maybe the guy she thinks is afraid of her is actually afraid that his once favorite part of a female’s anatomy could kill him by their weight alone!
She could probably push her breasts up when she wants a guys attention. Works well on me. That’s science.
Reminds me of this:
Matilda: “Yooooooooou…. shooooooullld… caaaaaaaaaall… meeeeeeeee.”
Dan: “Why, Matilda, are you trying to hypnotize me?”
Matilda: “Silly Dan. If I wanted to do that, I would’ve just held your head a foot lower.”

You have excellent taste in web comics.
I would not be surprised if the emissaries are doing the exact same thing in reverse.
“Just act intimidated. This is Ivenmoth’s thing, they want to feel cool.”
“Shouldn’t we tell them?”
“No, that would hurt their feelings.”
Nice boobhug there, Ishy :V
Saw Angry Isher here, immediately thought “Oh no, someone messed with Kangaskhan’s baby.”
I wonder, does the trade master’s trades include the same level of “politics” as his general policies?
Also, those guys are gonna be a problem in the future. Just the attitude they had in someone else’s town is enough to give that impression. Wouldn’t be surprised if at least three one belittling the trademaster saw through the tough act, too. The 1-eyed guy was the only one that lagged for a step when he saw her.
Isher is too good and too pure for this wicked world.
Isher is suuuuuper stacked in this comic page… and I am most pleased.
Hope your arm thing gets better… I let my knee thing get lifelong and I regret that. Take your time and heal please, love the comic.
Would it be possible later down the line to get a little history on the sweet cinnamon roll that is Isher?
She is totes adorbs
Just recently started on your comic at a friends recommendation.
Love the story.
Have you considered turning this into a full novel rather than just a comic strip?
“just a comic strip”
Them’s fightin’ words!
More precisely, you come off as saying that novels are better than comics, which would be ill-advised to say to a community that is based around a comic. If that was not the intention then no harm done to me, but you might want to be more precise in your future communication. Or not, everything needs some slack… If I am wrong and that is a weird thing to read from your statement, then my honest apologies. If novels really are better than comics, then… you will want to justify that position…
More practically. Stories typically sprout from where their inspiration lies. Given that this was made as a comic, it is likely that it was envisioned with a visual component, and telling it otherwise would be awkward. One can never be certain about such matters, but I would expect the quality to drop. I often see people saying “this is great, but just doesn’t suit me, please do something closer to my own tastes” and I foresee disaster ahead if the author actually engages in such because it is veering away from the author’s own tastes and away from their own enthusiasm and at odds with their understanding as to how to meet the different needs of the different style. There can certainly be exceptions, advice is generally a good thing, but it really requires supporting arguments to avoid being one person asking for what they personally want and become helpful advice that can be considered from a more objective perspective.
I suspect that Val will be making pictures regardless. So a novel would just add typing strain and fail to remove drawing strain…
For me personally, novels just offer a lot more detail on the overall story, surroundings and character information. I’m one of those people that will read a good novel into the wee hours quite happily.
I love both mediums.
I will agree if the author does decided to go down that route it may impact the quality of the comic its self.
But at the same time it can be a good way to open up the story to a lot more people.
The author could farm it out, but yea suppose it all comes down to if they like the idea of writing instead of just drawing story’s.
I don’t wish this was a novel, but I wish there were more novels like this. I just cannot get enough for TG/TF stories!
There are lots of them out there. Just… not good ones… which is true of all genres to some extent, but transhumanist and metamorphic perspectives seem to attract a comparatively vast amount of simplistic pandering. Simplistic pandering is a good thing! For those who want it. I mean, Avatar was a hugely successful movie and, well, it made a lot of people entertained! but its qualities were… not aimed at critical thought… A movie about a paraplegic who can’t deal with it becoming a giant alien sex god won’t please all of the people all of the time. Although it is absolutely accurate to say that Avatar was a movie about a human turning into an alien. It was the primary experience of the primary character, but it was just too busy being decadent to actually explore the topic.
I am sure that if you search for “genderbender novel” you will get loads of results, but you are going to want to find some way of focusing upon what you personally want out of it. As for inhuman protagonists… that’s trickier. The vast majority of those are things like elves or sometimes goblins, which usually end up identical to human except with a culture that makes the protagonist’s ambitions easier.
It doesn’t help that one of the most frequently cited problems that novels can have is that the protagonist wasn’t familiar to the reader. It makes it extremely difficult for a story with legitimately alien elements to be successful enough to finish and be noticeable.
Hi. I’m searching for other comics like OOPs, but I can’t find them. I think it’s because I don’t know where to search things like this. I want to find stories about people changed into something different from a human and see how this will affect their mind and life. I’m searching something like Black Tapestries or Out of Placers. Can someone help me?
There are many. They are all terrible.
El Goonish Shive is good at what it does, but its transformations are easy, fun, and rarely vital to the plot. It is great if you want a comic with transformation in it, but not so much if you want a comic about transformation.
Wotch is in this weird place where consequences often happen, but often nobody cares. In some ways it is more of an exploration of “if there is nobody to see it happen, does the tree actually fall” than transformation. It also seems to have a bit too much author appeal. Well, author appeal isn’t so much bad as niche. Nothing wrong with it but it’s audience will be smaller. It also obstructs merciless editing.
Oh no, I just remembered that Accidental Centaurs exists. Oh, wow, I think it almost deals with a transformation issue at some point too… It is like the above but so much worse. You will drown in the author appeal and it most likely isn’t even remotely safe for work, but ehh, that is a given with transformation stuff. I am not actually going to risk looking at it again to find out.
Ugh, I think that my pick might end up being Zebra Girl. It, uhh, it does get better. Much better… just… A lot of the, uhh, “rustic charm” never goes away. It definitely gets art and story and theme upgrades so don’t give up just because it starts janky as pies on a propeller.
Synthea got silly, and died early, but it had its moments. Loads and loads of author appeal, but the character seemed at times to try to be a character with an issue and the issue seemed to try to actually be an issue on occasion.
This is the Worst Idea You’ve Ever Had! and Skin Deep probably qualify. In both people find out that they are monsters and this causes some issues.
I guess vampire stories technically qualify. Anathema is not the worst one…
Crimson Knight’s problems are immediately apparent. The premise tells you more than you want to know, but I can’t shake the feeling that there might be an actual comic hiding under it.
Underling seems as though it should qualify but I can barely remember it.
Uhhh, Wingless? Hemlock and Chirault too. They seem like they should qualify, but have they really come to terms with anything or are their issues just background noise? Thistil Mistil Kistil might also qualify buuut… they are still basically human?
Of course there is every super-hero comic ever. Suddenly gaining impossible abilities should be life-altering, and not always in a good way. Don’t expect this to ever be explored.
This is all half-remembered from repressed memories, so your mileage may vary. Just remember that there is nothing good on the internet and if you make the mistake of looking you will wade through true horror.
Thanks for your reply. I already know most of the comics you were talking about. Many of the comics I found on internet are too childish, with a poor plot and often are drawn in a really poor way. If the story is good, really good, I don’t mind how it’s drawn. Many comics doesn’t worth reading. What I’m searching is something like Black Tapestries and Out of placers. I like stories where someone is turned into something different and must deal with his/her new body. Black Tapestries plot is about a girl, Lorelei, tuned into a sort of werefox… a fox kaetif. Almost every human thinks kaetifs are vermin not worth living. Lorelei hates kaetifs too… and a war between humans and kaetif is almost inevitable. And there is Issac sort of playing with Lorelei’s life. That comic isn’t a childish one. Out of placers is much less dark than Black Tapestries, but the story is really interesting. I like how Kass is feeling his transformation and how this is changing him. I’ve read at least 10 times the pages where he is freaking out because he is a yinglet now. And what about the first time he’s at the mirror staring at what he’s become? I really love the notes he’s writing to Ran. I think something bigger than Kass is due to happen soon. Comics like El Goonish Shive are not what I’m searching for, because they are mostly gags and not a serious story. I like things like Twokinds, but it’s too furry for my taste. The best characters here are Raine and Natani (and Keith because of Natani), the others are almost useless IMHO.
I think you are wrong about what can be found on internet. 🙂 You must search very hard maybe… but you can find things like BT and OOPs buried in the deep. And I think there are many other comic worth reading… I only need to find them. 🙁
There’s also I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle where this guy becomes a female genie who happens to look like the titular female genie from the 1960s I Dream of Jeannie TV series. The art is not great but I’ve gotten pretty into it
Thanls for your reply. That’s not what I’m searching for. 🙂 Try to read this comic:
http://blacktapestries.smackjeeves.com/
Every time I find a comic about someone transformed into something different, I compare it to this comic. It must be better or good enough than BT. 🙂
I’m looking in to that. Changing mediums, have you read Jack L. Chalker’s Well World Saga books? If not it’s about a planet was used as a testing ground for this super-advanced alien race to create other intelligent species. When people visit the world(usually by accident) they are placed in a random biosphere and turned into a member of the intelligent species that inhabits it.
What is the, uh, tone of the story? More specifically, the tone of the the change occurring to the people? I believe that the problem with Jeanie Bottle is the tone of the changing, which I would describe as, um, tsundere. “No, turn me back, but these powers are great, but I’m not a man anymore, but I’m going enjoy being a girl”… It never actually addresses the change, it just indulges in it. If the people change into aliens and spend their time being amazed at how much better it is to be an alien, or how a superior human intellect and culture is better at using alien physiology(a unique perspective can achieve unique things, but there is a strain of wish-fulfilment that looks similar but has different results), or how the bumbling changling is inferior to the superior aliens, then it probably won’t scratch this itch.
The basic problem is the search for science fiction. I feel that the defining trait of science fiction is that it explores a hypothesis. It is basically a thought experiment. This is why I think Star Wars is better Science fiction than Star Trek. Star wars takes the idea of superior beings that can almost ignore conventional weapons, predict the future, break wills with a wave of their hands… And it plays this out quite realistically. They break off in their little political groups over childish ideologies and drag everyone else down with them. Star Trek on the other hand takes the idea of humanity overcoming all their problems, and its answer is that Kirk loses his shirt and fights a giant slug then runs off with some green woman. Humanity solves hunger with replicators, here is us shipping supplies to a starving planet, and we control all pests so have some tribbles. We’ve ended human war, so have some alien war. All disease has been cured except the common cold and whatever is exterminating the crew this episode. We accept all races except gods, and whatever else we hate but mostly we have to kill all gods. We no longer have to worry about nukes, except that phasers and torpedoes could wipe out all life on earth in a day, and here is a doomsday weapon from an extinct species on its way to destroy Earth… Star Trek says “what if all problems were solved” and answers “Ha! Fooled you! Absolutely nothing was solved! Have some shirtless Kirk instead!”. It is just the same tired heroes versus the monster of the week fantasy stuff that served as cheap entertainment to the masses thousands of years ago and never stopped. It is good at what it does, but there is no exploration there.
OOPs is great science fiction because it actually explores its issues. The characters and their problems seem more like simulations than gimmicks. Lusty Argonian Maid on the other hand is set up to play with the idea and use it as a setup for jokes. They are by the same author so it makes for a good comparison. Both are good at what they do, but they are of completely different tone. If you like one then there s a fair chance you will like the other, but if you see one and want more of the same, then they would be really bad picks for one another.
Ironically, I started off as a writer, only much later deciding to practice and learn art in order to tell stories visually! Having used both formats, I’m super well aware of the strengths and limitations of both; such as how prose format is great at getting a huge amount of things done story-wise much quicker than a story can be told through illustration, and the depth of details, especially in terms of what the characters’ inner thoughts and reactions are.
It’s one of the reasons Kass is charged with keeping a journal about his experiences!
But yeah, this story from the beginning has been structured for comic format, but there is always moments where I find myself wishing I could expand on something happening in written format. Not TOO often though, thankfully!
But. I think it would make a good series of books. Like Folglio did with his Girl Genius comics. The Novels are pretty good to.
It’s easier for a 40-year comic industry vet like Phil Foglio to outsource a high quality spinoff or derivative of his work than it is for most people.
this is the face of murder
Yowza! Isher’s mammaries have acheived critical mass! When they get bigger than your own head, it may be time to worry (about potential back problems and proper posture (as well as if you’ve been curse by some subcutaneous-adipose-fat obsessed wizard(… like boob head from Little Nicky)))
But now, with those magnificent canines and eye teeth, I bet if she ever bared her fangs at someone, the would piss themselves!
I bet she likes that her eye teeth cover her canines when she grins. Ah… it seems like forever since I’ve seen the poor girl’s beautiful smile.
On another note, I wonder if Nancy gets paid extra to put up with the abuse and to not sass back. If not, I wonder how many meals he’s added “extra ingredients” to, amongst other means of vengence a butler has at his disposal. :p
I wonder if she is in estrus and they will return to a smaller size once “the cycle” passes.
“Don’t look at her tits. Don’t look at her tits. DON’T LOOK AT HER TITS.”
Maybe he lost his eye in a “my face is up here” incident and now he is experiencing flashbacks.
Is there an OOP fan discord? Would love to join and talk to all the fans of this amazing web comic!
We have a forum for this. 🙂 Why is it so empty? No one cares to use it?
If I remember correctly, the forum filled with bots to the point where it was nearly unusable, then there was a mass purging and rework… aaaand now most of us have either lost interest or become afraid to go back.
Might be thinking of Twokinds’ forums, but I know it happened on one of them.
No clue about the past, but the forum is currently being kept up quite well. I think people are just too used to apps and single purposed utilities, so the art of navigating is becoming a dieing ability. (Case and point, some of the kids I work with have NO IDEA how to use a traditional road map (or standard map, for that matter) and analog clocks are becoming now called “too complicated.” SMH, I fear for the world)
Anyways, forum link for the discord!
http://s15.zetaboards.com/ValSalia/topic/10309366/4/
Hey, don’t worry; it’s not completely dead. I still use analog clocks and road maps sometimes. But then again, I’m weird soo…
Ah! You give me hope for the future of this world my comrade! 😀
Please, let’s start to use the forum again… If I’m right, discord is a live chat and this is a big problem to me, because:
1) English is not my native language, so I can’t write fast and live talking with someone it would be a real pain. Sometimes writing a simple reply takes me really long.
2) I must be online at the same time as other people.
3) I never tried to use discord, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I think everything written there won’t last… I mean, you can search the forum for something and you’ll find it even after some years. This can’t be done in a chat.
So please, let’s use the forum.
This comic is about to get a lot more interesting…
I just found this comic, and I must say I am entirely entranced within the world. I read them all in a single sitting, laughing on almost every page; This is on par with the Lackadaisy comic! I simply adore the Yinglets, you have quite the talent for storytelling.
Maaan a comparison to Lackadaisy is a pretty big compliment! Naturally, I wish The OOPs could have the same level of visual quality, but on the other hand, I far prefer to get this story told quicker, so I tend to focus more on speed/expression than super-rich detail.
I came from here from e621 after getting a little taster of this really intricate and well done comic and I have to say, you’ve got me hook, line and sinker, Val. I love how the timing in the humor has an almost Monty Python level of charm and the world building that you’re doing is incredible! I am currently bookmarking this comic and am awaiting a new page with baited breath.
Funnily enough, I got here as part of a large influx from HF after it was posted to Sadpanda. It’s basically free advertising, and way more effective than a google ad banner on some random website.
Eyy, glad to hear that you found, and are enjoying this stuff! Seriously; I haven’t done a poll or anything, but I know a pretty big number of people found my stuff via e621.
How soon until next page?
Was that guy really scared of Isher? I kind of have my doubts about that. He didn’t look that scared. He kind of looked interested to me.
Hey, how’s your BadArmThing? I hope you’re alright 🙂
nancy is me in every social situation lol
I think what’s killing my interest in the comic is the epicly long intervals between new pages getting posted. I understand that this is likely a hobby or side interest for the creator, but the painfully long waits make me lose track of plot and story elements.
I think the truth is : You have no heart.
Val even went full-disclosure to tell everyone exactly what was happening, and you ignore this kindness of inclusion?
Val : “BadArmThing happened and I’ve been rehabbing it”
Would you rather he exacerbate his injury and possibly cripple himself and have to end his comic that brings joy?
Pure heartlessness comrade.
Trying to snuff out one of the joys that this world still offers, you would kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
smdh -_-
If you care, then be patient. Otherwise, I hope if you ever become a patient, you get flipped outta your cot onto the floor.
Get out there and be proactive! A busy life has many interesting things and will help you kill time!
(Donate to Val’s patron if you want to be of help and stopping being a heartless curr. )
I was unaware of the physical injury and hope for a speedy recovery. I hope the creator feels better soon and picks up where things left off. Contrary to the baseless extrapolations, readership is almost certainly declining as a result of circumstances. Here’s hoping they feel up to it soon.
Ah I wad unaware you didnt know comrade. Looks like we can add “wilfully ignorant of facts,” narcissistic, and egocentric. Here’s hoping you don’t devolve into psychopathy soon. :3
I apologise. I responded to your initial comment without affording you the time or opportunity to come about the unknown information in due course. Your reply comment was uncalled for, as well as my reply to it. But I see no good or knowledge coming from this exange continuing. Sorry also to Val and all fellow comment comrades. You owe me a proper punch in the arm JohnO. My bad.
John’s reply is uncalled for? He’s willfully ignorant of facts? As far as I can tell, John has been very polite to you.
Man, I totally hear ya! I’m not sure what was worse; the stabbing arm nerve inflammation, or the anxiousness I felt about getting behind. Especially so, since a good 90% of my income is based on how many pages I put out per month, so any time I slow down on updates, I really feel it.
Which makes me even more glad to be quickly recovering! Aiming to get one comic per week posted for the rest of this month.
Hearing about the Bronze Axes makes me wonder about the other clans and tribes around Valsalia. Will the Axes ever have a field guide?
The “pillow biter” has a full root cellar of “meat” out in the forest that nobody knows about. Nobody notices if a few hobos and scavs go missing.
