This is what passes for a serious and complex manhunt story among the yinglet population.
The legend of the Oracle of Bakersroof is shrouded in mystery, and the exact details have been lost to the sands of time.
Basically he hung out a lot on the roof of one of the local bakeries, keeping an eye out for stuff that happened below in between meetings with various paramours.
Then one day the baker got tired of all the scav-humping noises on his rooftop, so he chased him off and the scav fell off and broke his legs. But he got back up there and kept doing exactly the same thing and something something and so he’s the local oracle now
Thanks as usual to Caedere (NSFW) for coloring/shading the characters on this page!
I like how Yinglets are so unfazed by humping that they can have a conversation while they do so
For Yinglets, humping is not realated to reproduction, nore do thay have all the religious claptrap that messed with our sociaty in dealing with sexuality. For yinglets, its basicly something that feels nice, and that thay can do. Its not super special, its not religiously constrained, its not a sin. Its just something they can do. Remember in the real world, ‘humping’ is considered wrong, not because it is ‘wrong’ but because religion says it is ‘wrong’ More correctly, it is wrong because the religions with all the guns and military backing, and have a history of running around and torturing to death anyone that disagreed with them, say it is wrong.
well, aside from it transmits lots of diseases that were not curable until recently – and some still aren’t. There are other reasons, many of which are still well worthwhile.
Sadly, they would have to understand the concepts of infection, desease and desease transmission before such a thing could be considered as any sort of restraint. Nore, historicly has it been shown to to have an effect on peoples sexual activity. For most, the drive to have sex is greater than concern that thay might get some illness from a partner. Just so you know, thats still happening right now. Heck, some is even deliberate, look up bug chasers.
right – but those are good reasons for society to consider it a sin, at least here on planet Earth. Bug chasers? not really candidates for Darwin award, but…
The concepts of infection are prettymuch a new thing. Yes, they had condoms for a long time, but, that was to prevent children, more than anything else. Infection and the like has only been understood for like the last 200 years. The making sex stuff a sin has been existant sense at lest the time of the christians. To some extent its been sudjested that the idea was to incurage procreation, thus out breeding other religious groups, tell thay where strong enough to murder any that aposed them.
Actually, the making of Homosexuality into a taboo can be traced back to Jewish law. Much of which was based around the prevention of disease and illness (Though they did not understand the underlying mechanics of the infection, they could identify that certain actions led to disease and death. Thus the belief that certain actions where sinful and that the resulting illness was either a punishment from god, or some kind of demonic possession) as well as setting themselves apart from many of the cults that resided within the region. (Which often practiced rituals involving coerced homosexual intercourse, not forced mind you, something closer to “if you want to have good crops this year you will copulate with this priest.) Both factored into Jewish law forbidding such conduct, an ideal that Christianity inherited along with many of it’s other positive traits (such as the romanticization of marriage). Also the spread of Christianity was not nearly as violent as you seem to believe. (Not that it was never violent) But the Catholic church as a whole did not become violent until after it’s spread, and the corruption that resulted from it’s amassing of great political power, also in reaction to the genocide being carried out throughout the middle east and northern Africa by another religious group, with similar if not more extreme opinions on homosexuality.
Sorry for the tangent I hope it was not too improper.
Note: Not that making Homosexuality a Taboo is a good thing, just that sometimes you have to take the bad along with the good. (History is rarely black and white)
“prevention of disease and illness” … Not hardly.
It was more like that they saw women as inferior and potentially ok to rape, and thereby was not fond of the idea of men doing it to other men, as men wrote the laws … but anyway, they clearly saw anal sex as the same as rape, because they were incapable of even considering making the sex pleasurable for the recipient as well as for the one doing the penetration.
You see that trend a lot with some religious laws. Especially the food ones.
On the contrary, yinglet society specifically encourages males to fornicate with one another to quench their sexual thirst, not unlike some ancient human beliefs, to keep them away from trying to violently acquire women like irl animals with similar gender disparities, effectively crushing their chances of a civilized society. So yeah, it’s not so much new age free love-free thought ultra liberal stuff and more like “thou shall not not fornicate with fellow males”.
Eh, this page slightly bothers me. I feel the final panel could have been “off center” with just word balloons and a focus on the newcomer. As it stands, feels a bit too indulgent for my tastes. Not gonna stop reading or anything though, far more good here then the nitpicks.
I thought that was part of what made it so funny. Totally didn’t see it coming, in the context of todays comic, in the storyline, or in the comic’s presentation in general. Being more subtle wouldn’t work as well.
Honestly I have seen worse in childrens daytime cartoons.
The surprise worked well, not saying “change what is happening” just change the framing of the panel. Hell, artist has a FA account, he can just do a “uncensored” picture there for folks that want it, or make it a Patreon bonus.
Oh look, church let out. ;P
Oh come now! You gotta admit, he has a bit of a point.
It’s a bit more… in-your-face than I was expecting, given the previous content.
Like you, though, not at all a reason for ME to stop reading, though I don’t know about others.
No legs … Yinglet inginuaty at it’s finest.
I don’t trust this new scav. He calls himself an oracle, but he acts more like a missionary.
More like in the missionary position. 🙂
I honestly keep forgetting that pretty much every single Yinglet is a dude. R Paul would be proud.
Did she really humped him/her? Feel a little bit of character but maybe there is something I don’t get.
From the looks of their tails, they’re both “he”, and yes.
On a reread, the oracle knows Brakka wears a cape despite not being able to see it. Seems like the oracle lives up to the title, or at least spotted Brakka before and recognized him, still showing how good of a lookout he is.
