That’s the ritual. One asks the other if they want to do it, and they do it. Just because they are animals doesn’t mean they have elaborate mating dances.

I just realized that the two guards switch sides a few times. The light one starts on the right, goes to the left in the 3rd panel, returns to the right in the 4th panel, goes back to the left in the 5th panel and, finally, returns once again to the right in the last panel.
The variety of different emotions in group shots (in this case, amusement, indifference, fear/pain, and homicidalness) is always so delightful. XD The second-to-last panel of page 11 is another good example. I adore the contrast between all of their reactions.
The more I read this comic, the funnier it gets. Oh, please, let this trend continue.
