Where do Yinglet enclaves get cloth from? Is it all purchased from other races, or do they have some sort of primitive textile industry?
I imagine the finer cloth, like what the females and the patriarchs wear and what they wrap the eggs in are bought from humans, while the rest of the colony just gets by with whatever they can make or find.
Yinglets are able to sew, after all, Lippie did sew up that banner in the main hall. I do expect that yes, thay do get there cloth from trade, more than anything else. Most of the yinglet outfits seem more like thay are adapted from, well, childrens clothing.
Consider Vizlet’s outfit in this page, Shes got a small blouse, probably ment to be short sleeves for a little girl, and a skirt. The skirt does not fit quite right, wich is why its so open at the front. The lift of the tail spreads the skirt open. She is also wearing shorts I beleave. Its difacult to tell for sure with the panels avialable.
The hat she is wearing, is very muchg liuke the same one the nurse is using. Thats actualy a head covering style that was popular once apon a time. The only modifications thay would have had to make is to add the ear holes.
Kass on the other hand, is wearing an outfit that was tailored for a yinglet. Top/blouse underskirt or shorts, undies even, yes, she has panties in the house colours, check the panels when she is being dressed up by the girls. And notice that her skirt just about closes at the front, except when she lifts her tail higher than normal in walking and such.
Weaving is not that difacult a skill to learn, or even to come up with figuring out how to do it, at lest by hand, if you can take a bit of cloth and look at it, and see how its assembled. A problem is that it takes focus, and one has to stick too it. Most yinglets do not have the attention span needed for weaving.
But why must they always have to have their tails up?
Balance I expect is a lot of it. And I expect up is not the only use for that. down would work just as well in many cases, side to side would not be helpfull though, as it could unbalance to one side or the other. Remember yinglets do not have the same posture as a human would.
Side to side does have some uses at times. Swaying the tail to the inside of a turn while running could help shift mass, or even act as an air rudder at speed. It could also be used to help conceal tracks for the craftier of the species like a Robinson Crusoe brush (I think it’s called). Perhaps if one were inclined to use more than their little stick arms in a fight, a twist could bring the tail around like a flail.
But I’m also drunk at noon, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Tails down would probably get them dirty: With the girls having a more bushy tail it would collect dirt like a broom – which would be undignified for a Matriarch – so keep the tail up. Kass might be just imitating Viz subconsciously. Also possibly serves as a… incentive for others.
wow, you really thought about it. great job.
Shouldn’t be too hard for Yinglets to grow flax, really.
They’re yinglets, I don’t think they would all have enough patience for it to grow and then making it into the fabric, then making that into clothes
Vizlet is one very pushy lady.
Don’t know if you already think about this but…
It will be a interesting side-story if Kass, worried about the late hatcher, is convinced to support this yinglet.
That would be quite interesting.
Discovered this comic through Spacebattles, mentioned by a comment on the story Skooma Cat. I was a little hesitant, but gave the prologue a chance. Nearly quit after the prologue and things got transformy, but I kept going gradually, and fell in love with the damned raptorkobolds.
You’ve got a really fascinating world built here, and Yinglets are just full of awesome fantasy biology, it’s rare to see a sci-fi/fantasy species built with total disregard to human norms, and then having them interact with humanity with several levels of intelligence in action.
I’m rooting for the Viz Vira ship, but jeeze sometimes Viz totally at the subtlety game.
It is always good to give a new Webcomic a Try. I never heard of “Skooma Cat”, but by the name it has to involve Khajiits.
It does. It’s about a Khajiit who grew up in the 21st age of Tamriel being sent back in time to the 4th by Sheogorath. It’s full of humor, heart, and Daedra being Daedra.
You don’t happened to have the link to the First page of that Webcomic/Fanfiction, do you?
You could always just type it “Skooma Cat” in google and find it. I typed it in google and found it on fanfiction.net.
I drank bout half a gallon of apple pie shine today and it got me thinking. Can Yinglets drink alcohol. They most likely shouldn’t but I can’t remember if this subject was discussed.
My curiosity being what it is when I drink. I Google some of the strangest thing when I drink. Hhmmm…
Who needs alcohol when they have clams?
Right…..
Forgot that little bit.
I now want to see the way she would raise an adoptive son or daughter
I am waiting for the vizier to tell kas you will be in heat or prime time in x amount of days.
So they can have another slap match. I’m looking forward to that.
How do they know it’s not a female inside the egg?
A weak female might just make lots of weak children, if she ever got to that point. Lots of wasted breeding.
