If someone were to, say, come up with some kind of cool animal or plant or something, would you put it in? I’m asking because I have many ideas and no outlet
The best advice I can give you is learn to write, or learn to draw.
Or both.
You will never find someone else to vent ideas to, because anyone with drawing and/or writing ability already has their own ideas. The only way you’ll be able to get other people to write or draw your ideas is through making a lot of commissions, and that requires a lot of money.
So, develop your own skills instead. You always have time.
In some cases, there’s also copyright issues to consider. For example, “Weird Al” Yankovic will not accept fan submissions. Most publishing companies do the same; they will simply throw any unsolicited contributions directly into the shredder. The reason for this is that unless they solicited the material (meaning that you signed a contract), if they use ANY PART of your material, they can be sued.
Ahem. I got news. Hyoomins have not improved in this… Botox is still a cosmetic procedure, Botox is short for Botulism toxin a nasty bacterial disease which can be fatal in hours.
The Shaky Bristleback looks like it is afraid of everything and will maul you and everyone near you out of fear before it runs away to hide again. I love it!
It’s the Captcha. The main comic page doesn’t have one, and if there’s no captcha, the post gets eaten by the spam filter. But after you try to post a comment, you’re on the response page, and that has a captcha, so you can actually post.
The bit about dogs is quite interesting. Previous mentions of dogs made it seem like there are earth species other than humans in the world of OOPS, but it looks like similar to oysters (Val Salia oysters are nothing like the species we know here on Earth :P) that was just humans giving a familiar name to a somewhat familiar-looking species.
It looks very much like humans are aliens on this planet…
A total guess as to what. When we can say was a long time ago, with a thousand years likely a minimum. The home city here dates back 140 years, and had been visited for a substantial period before that. So far we have seen no artifacts [such as a wrecked spaceship] that give us any idea that the locals have any idea when humans arrived. But we do know humans have spread over a substantial area, and have had time to make distinctive cultures, so humans have been around here for quite some time.
One of the complaints about Star Wars was that all of the human characters spoke English. Could be “dog” is just a rough translation and the rest is coincidental. Speaking of the humans, there’s a pretty good diversity of races represented, which leads back to a large population ship of some kind depositing its human cargo on the planet in the not too distant past. Could be that this event sparked the evolution of the yinglets which could explain their attraction to our species.
Yinglets have a very high tolerance, or if I remember right are just straight up resistant, to poison. Many of the things they eat are toxic to humans, especially the stuff in the marsh
The only thing I think is missing is some sort of scale reference. it’s not clear if the “dog” is a chihuahua, or a pony sized horror. A human Silhouette, or a Ruler, or a Banana for scale would be helpful.
The comments are kinda broken on mobile chrome (android) in my experience, it would seem that comments don’t load until you comment. It may just be me, but if anyone else experiences it, this could be a potential momentaril fix.
If you’re replying to someone else, click “Reply” twice. If you’re starting a new comment, try clicking on “## comments” first (to force it to load the Captcha) and then type your comment. That might help.

The blue fungus reminds me of how lead face paint and belladonna poison in the eyes were once common cosmetics.
I can’t deny it looks awesome though.

Not quite, but close! It’s short for botulinum, not botulism.
Botulism refers to being infected by the bacteria that produces botulinum.
Botulinum is just a protein produced by the bacteria. It works by blocking acetylcholine receptors.
We have left out cinnabar [a mercury compound]. And briefly radium cosmetics. and ofcourse bat shit eyeliner.

It looks like an anemic version of the skags from Borderlands. 😀
Is anybody else having issues with their comments not showing up?
Huh. Now it works. And I couldn’t repost the comment that apparently got swallowed because “you already made this post” until I changed a word…

Yet they seem like the dominant species.
Invasive species often take over local ecosystems.
But invasive from what?
That glowy thing in the sky?
The universal cosmic energy and matter?
Perhaps a lost generation ship landed here? Just a guess.
Seems like a possibility but man would that be out of left field.
We will see if that is what is in the pre-history. That is IF Val reveals the deep dark secrets….
We may never know.

I love Val’s sense of imagination and creative spark. Its out-takes like this that make this comic more immersive and fun.
Perhaps
I have a feeling Val is a fan of Subnautica.
Nice
So are Yinglets immune to the toxins in the lureworm? Or does it give them a buzz? What’s the story? I know I just watched him eat one raw.
I’m curious about that too
Yinglets have a very high tolerance, or if I remember right are just straight up resistant, to poison. Many of the things they eat are toxic to humans, especially the stuff in the marsh
For that matter, the stuff they use as soap is toxic to humans.
I really want to read The Howling Madness of House Derrongi

I’m not sure I want to know the horror that is YingWorld’s equivalent to our banana.
Someone needs to introduce Ran to graph paper.

You know… A DOG!
“Dog.”
No but really, as a person heavilly interested in biology this makes me very happy. Nice work man! Thanks!
Waaaait a minute… did Kattajak just casually swallow a toxic worm thing?
They evolved to eat things that no other predator or herbivore would touch.
Oof. Did a total archive binge, and now I’m all caught up. Now the patience game begins.

Aw dang, why does the cool glowing mushrooms gotta cause physical and mental health issues? Having all those glowey accents looks really awesome!
